What's New at CAS

Many New Animals...That's What's New!

Over twenty animals are on their way to CAS. They include an ancient potbelly pig whose family is leaving him behind as they relocate to Florida. Having been part of a single family for 15 years, "Bacon", whose name we will change to something that sounds similar, will be devastated. If you know pigs, you know this is no exaggeration.

If you have potbelly pig experience and would like to welcome an elderly pig into your home, we'd love to hear from you. So would Bacon. In the meantime, he sure could use a lot of love, so please consider scheduling a volunteer day (we could use a hand on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays)...with a little extra time built in for a sad old pig...

The second situation involves the animal friends of a woman in the final stages of Alzheimers. Her family has asked CAS to take the animals whom she has cared for for years--animals that include donkeys, goats, miniature horses, rabbits, ducks, chickens, an elderly horse, and a pig. Nearly all are elderly; every single one needs a SERIOUS diet, and the rabbits must be spayed and neutered.

Photos coming soon!

f FormThe animals will arrive at CAS at the end of the month. If you'd like to donate towards the cost of their care, please now.

Thanks for Chipping In!!

We did it! Thanks to all of Franklin's pals who "chipped in" via the web or snail mail to build a Pig Palace for our little man. Over the weekend, we exceeded our goal by 0...which simply means that he'll get a little extra room. Can you spell s-p-o-i-l-e-d?!!

Construction will begin as soon as Kathy returns from her book tour.

"Speaking" of Which...

Director Kathy Stevens heads to "Fall Cafe" in Cobble Hill on Thursday evening, where she'll read from her book Where the Blind Horse Sings and discuss the life lessons learned from some very special animal friends. Join her at 7 pm at 307 Smith St, Brooklyn.
