Wanted: Visionary Vegan Chef
Big Dreams Required!
CAS is thrilled to launch a national search for a full-time vegan chef.With the rescue portion of our operation humming, we now turn our attention to the second part of our mission: raising public awareness of agribusiness and its impact on animals, humans, and the Earth, and more importantly, giving people the skills to joyfully change their diets.
To that end, CAS seeks a formally trained chef to help us build our “vegan vision.” The person we select will be both a master chef and a gifted educator—someone who can say to various audiences, ‘There’s a whole new way of cooking that’s fun, delicious, kind to the Earth and to animals… and you’re going to be good at it.’”
CAS will be reaching out to culinary schools, local and Manhattan-based vegan restaurants, and other vegan connections to fill a position that will begin as soon as the right person is found.
The interview process will be rigorous. Those who pass the initial screening will be interviewed by a panel that includes vegan restaurant owners and CAS board members, staff, and volunteers. Three finalists will be invited to cook for the CAS community.
Requirements

- Graduation from a recognized culinary school
- Three or more years' professional cooking experience
- In-depth knowledge of the health benefits of a vegan diet, and a passion for inspiring others about them
- Interest in working with staff to create a varied, year-round program of both on and off-site
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment
- Strong professional and personal references (please provide 3 of each)
- Ability to prepare a wide variety of foods for audiences ranging in size from 8 to 800
